Information
JBT Marel Pig Head Deboner streamlines the processing of whole pig heads. By combining automated preparation with clearly defined manual tasks, they make this demanding process more efficient, consistent and less dependent on skilled butchers.
The modular lines process heads from standard slaughter pigs in the 60–110 kg weight range. Different configurations allow processors to match capacity, layout and staffing to their specific operation.
Capture more value from every pig head
Processing pig heads in-house allows you to recover valuable products instead of selling or exporting whole heads. This creates additional revenue and gives your operation greater flexibility when market demand or export conditions change.
Flexible capacity for every operation
The modular design supports a consistent process flow and efficient use of space and labor:
- RB0313: 250, 450 or 600 heads per hour
- KM0102: 800, 1,000, or 1,200 heads per hour
Each operator performs a clearly defined task. Consistent product positioning and preparation support higher throughput, improved yield and repeatable product quality.
Automate demanding process steps
Key preparation and deboning steps are automated, including skin pre-cutting, splitting and removing the nose, opening the lower jaw, pulling the mask and splitting the lower jaw.
Automating these demanding operations reduces heavy manual work and dependence on experienced butchers. New operators can be trained for individual workstations, supported by process training from JBT Marel specialists.
Improve ergonomics and hygiene
Each head is securely positioned to give operators easy access to the parts being harvested. This reduces heavy pulling, awkward handling and operator fatigue.
Heads are secured through the nostrils at fixed intervals without touching a shared surface. This helps limit product-to-product cross-contamination and exposure to contamination from the nasal cavity.
